East Portland Action Plan funded Russian Speaking Network for Crime Prevention Project:
Crime Prevention Begins at Home
2012-2013

Crime Prevention Begins at Home will provide training for Russian-Speaking/Slavic families in the East Portland area with the aim to:
1)      raise the understanding, knowledge, and trust between this community and East Portland law enforcement and the judicial system;
2)     train and motivate the community to engage in crime prevention and law enforcement awareness activities;
3)     expand the scope of involvement of the community to prevent crime and improve livability.
The training will consist of six workshops. Participants will have an opportunity to meet and learn from speakers from District Attorney Office, Office of Equity of City of Portland, Police Review Office, Crime Prevention Bureau of East Portland, Child Welfare, Northwest Family Services and Russian Oregon Social Service. Workshops will be held in an interactive way.
Graduates will be awarded a Certificate of Crime Prevention Training Completion and gift card. They will also have an opportunity to work with Russian Speaking Network to build educated and powerful Russian-Speaking community. 
The project will start in November of 2012.
